HWER-UTD Teaching Clinical Training Simulator: Developing an AI-Agent-Based Virtual System for Better Teacher Preparation

Earth Systems | HomeWorld Ed Res.

Texas faces a shortage of qualified STEM teachers. To address this, HWER and UTeach Dallas are developing the Teaching Clinical Training Simulator (TCTS)—an AI-powered, immersive platform that replicates real-world teaching through interactive simulations. Using large language and diffusion models, TCTS provides realistic classroom and school interactions, helping future teachers gain confidence and experience. By enhancing preparation and retention, this innovative tool strengthens the pipeline of science and math educators across Texas.

Real-World Scientists, Students and Teacher Research Team

We also promote the network of real-world scientists with students and their teachers to co-work on authentic problems in the real-world. The research projects are either part of the scientists current projects or students created.

HomeWorld Educational Resources Y2023

Earth systems contain all kinds of processes and events that are relevant to STEM education. Without overall science literacy, successful environmental education cannot be achieved.  HomeWorld Ed Res launched in Dec 2022, and 2023 is the preparation year. HomeWorld's strategy focuses on research, technology, and networks. Therefore, Y2023 HomeWorld mostly worked on developing Earth-system-science-contexted integrative educational research projects, designing the new Earth-system-based visualization technology, and growing our K-12 ed experts and scientists network. Our Y2023 target community is first-year middle school students, especially those from historically marginalized communities.
